The music on this CD is a collaboration between two pianists/keyboardists who are longstanding friends and colleagues: Lewis Porter—also known as a jazz historian, and Rutgers-Newark professor—and Marc Rossi—also known as a composer, and Berklee College professor. They met initially at the University of Rochester in 1971, and performed in Boston during the years around 1980. They have much in common—the love of jazz, of 20th century “classical” music, Indian music, and all kinds of improvisation. Yet they each have, they hope, a distinctive voice, so that the two complement each other. ______________________________________________________________________ Die auf dieser CD vorliegende Musik entspricht das Ergebnis einer fruchtbaren Zusammenarbeit zweier Pianist- und Keyboardspieler, Kollegen und Freunden seit längerer Zeit: Lewis Porter (auch als Jazz Historiker und Professor an der Rutgers Univerty von Newark, USA) und Marc Rossi (Komponist und Professor am Berklee College). Ihre erste Begegnung datiert vom 1971 bei der Rochester University und ihre öffentliche gemeinsame Vorführung in den achtziger Jahren in Boston. Vieles haben beide gemeinsam: die Jazz-Liebe, die klassische Musik aus dem zwanzigsten Jahrhundert, die indische Musik und alle mögliche Gestaltungen der improvisierten Musik. Trotz allem handelt es sich hier um zwei persönliche getrennte Musikstimmen die sich autoimplementieren. _______________________________________________________________________ La musica presente su questo CD è il frutto della collaborazione fra due pianisti-tastieristi, colleghi e amici di lunga data: Lewis Porter (conosciuto anche come storico del jazz e professore al Rutgers University di Newark, USA) e Marc Rossi (compositore e professore al Berklee College). Il loro primo incontro risale al 1971 presso l'università di Rochester e si sono esibiti assieme a Boston negli anni '80. Hanno molto in comune: l'amore per il jazz, della musica classica del 20° secolo, della musica indiana, e di tutte le forme di musica improvvisata. Ciononostante hanno due voci ben distinte che sono l'uno il complemento dell'altro.
