The "Acoustic Strings" quartet, featuring the french violin virtuoso Dominique Pifarely, not only plays a jazz that is faithful to the traditional European sound, but that also implements the American jazz spirit and groove. Dominique Pifarely, an ECM recording artist who is also well-known for his collaborations with Louis Sclavis, Mike Westbrook, Steve Swallow, Stefan Grappelli and the Vienna Art Orchestra, manages to create his own unique style based on the jazz tradition of the French violin heritage and on contemporary music. Heiri Känzig, since many years with the Vienna Art Orchestra and with Thierry Lang (Blue Note), belongs to the "élite" of European bass players. Christy Doran is known world-wide both as a guitarist and as a band-leader, like for instance with the group OM. He has often recorded also for ECM. Fabian Kuratli belongs to the young breed of upcoming drummers. He has played, among others, with George Gruntz. ------------------------------------------- Das Quartett Acoustic Strings mit dem virtuosen französischen Geiger Dominique Pifarely spielt Jazz, der in der europäischen Musiktradition verwurzelt ist , aber gleichzeitig die Kraft und den Groove des amerikanischen Jazz miteinbezieht. Dominique Pifarely (Recording Artist bei ECM ) vor allem bekannt durch seine Arbeit mit Louis Sclavis, Mike Westbrook, Steve Swallow, Stephan Grappelli und dem Vienna Art Orchestra hat in seinem Spiel eine unverwechselbare Identität entwickelt, die von der französischen Jazztradition des Geigenspiels und der zeitgenössischen Musik geprägt ist. Heiri Känzig, langjähriges Mitglied beim Vienna Art Orchestra und bei Thierry Lang (Blue Note Records), gehört zur Elite der europäischen Bassisten. Er spielte mit zahlreichen bekannten Musikern der internationalen Jazzszene. Christy Doran hat als Gitarrist und Bandleader weltweit Anerkennung gefunden so beispielsweise mit der Gruppe OM. Ausserdem hat er mehrere CD’s für ECM eingespielt. Fabian Kuratli gehört zur jüngeren Generation von Schlagzeugern. Dominique Pifarely (Recording Artist presso ECM), conosciuto soprattutto per aver collaborato con Louis Sclavis, Mike Westbrook, Steve Swallow, Stefan Grappelli e la Vienna Art Orchestra, ha saputo crearsi un suo proprio stile inconfondibile, improntato alla tradizione jazzistica della scuola di violino francese e della musica contemporanea. Heiri Känzig, membro pluriennale della Vienna Art Orchestra e del gruppo di Thierry Lang (Blue Note Records), appartiene all élite dei bassisti europei. Christy Doran si è procurato fama mondiale sia come chitarrista che come bandleader, ad esempio con il gruppo OM. Inoltre ha registrato diversi CD con la ECM. Fabian Kuratli appartiene alla più giovane schiera dei batteristi. Ha suonato fra l altro con George Gruntz.
