The thing that is most remarkable of Jean-Christophe Cholet is his skillfulness and his feeling at ease with the compositions. This new CD release, in which Cholet is once again accompanied by his favourite musicians (Känzig-Papaux) in the trio format, proposes us a strong intimate atmosphere where all three artists have a constant dialogue between each other. Furthermore, one will hear a high level of technical capability that serves a first-class interpretative freedom, an obvious deep knowledge of the standards, and a strong feeling for swing. These three elements are essential to a resulting effect that is highly involving.
This is Cholet’s second CD with this trio format, and it confirms that he is definitively one of the most interesting and complete contemporary jazz artists in Europe.

Was von J. C. Cholet am meistens auffällt, sind zweifellos seine technische Ungezwungenheit und die komponistische Begabung. Die neue CD, in Begleitung seiner gewöhnlichen Trio-Partners (Känzig-Papaux,) bietet uns eine ausgeprägte Dichtung der Innerlichkeit an, welche sich immer konstant als Dialog dazwischen aufträgt.
Seien es hier auch die massgebenden Elemente die für ein solches mitreissendes Endresultat beigetragen haben dazu erwähnt, dass heisst die aussergewöhnliche Technik die sich in voller erstrangiger Interpretationsfreiheit widerspiegelt, die offenbare Kenntnis aller Standards und der bedeutende Swingverstand.
Mit dieser zweiten CD behauptet sich Cholet als einer der interessantesten und vollkommensten Jazzmusiker der Gegenwart.
