"Awake", Nicolas Masson's first CD as a leader, is the patient result of many years of musical experiences. Each tune is deeply rooted in a tradition which goes beyond the history of Jazz, encompassing an amazing variety of styles, underlining Nicolas rich musical background.
From burning straight ahead to thoughtful free ballads, each of the four musicians of the CD is free to explore without being impeded by stylistic boundaries making the "Awake" a truly refreshing and inspiring listening experience. The supporting cast is made of New York based musicians, all at the forefront of the contemporary Jazz scene. They each bring their strong identities to a project where beautiful compositions are equally matched by great playing.
