Prima pubblicazione del talentoso trio ticinese Q3 composto da tre giovanissimi fratelli, questa incisione presenta una ben strutturata e omogenea sequenza di composizioni originali in cui certamente non mancano né l'occasionale strizzatina d'occhio, né continue sorprese di ogni genere: timbriche, ritmiche, formali. On Cue, titolo alquanto significativo perché la musica "a-live" di Q3 procede appunto "per ammiccamenti", e al contempo umoristico – riprendendo il nome del trio – segue un'architettura precisa in cui si alternano caratteristiche tipicamente jazz quali l'improvvisazione e gli strumenti compositivi utilizzati, con ritmiche e sonorità drum'n'bass riprodotte acusticamente, servendosi a tratti di elementi classicamente contrappuntistici, second-line e groove. L'insieme promette così un'esperienza uditiva senza precedenti. E una giornata di buon umore. ****************************************************************** First release by the talented Swiss trio Q3, comprised of three young brothers, this recording presents a well-structured and homogenous sequence of original compositions where an occasional eyewink and constant surprises of all sorts – timbral, rhythmical and structural – are not lacking. On Cue: a subtly whimsical – the pun is intended – and significant title, given that the a-live music of Q3 functions on cues while it follows a distinct architecture, in which typical jazz characteristics, such as improvisation and stylistic compositional devices, alternate with acoustically reproduced drum'n'bass rhythms and sounds; now and then touching upon elements of classical counterpoint, earthy second-line, and elaborate groove. The whole thus promises an unprecedented listening experience. And a happy day. ************************************************************ Als erste Veröffentlichung des talentierten Tessiner Trios Q3 von drei jungen Brüdern gebildet, weist diese Aufnahme eine gut strukturierte und homogene Folge von originalen Kompositionen auf, denen weder ein gelegentliches Augenzwinkern noch ständige Überraschungen aller Art fehlen: klangfarbenbedingte, rhythmische, strukturelle. On Cue, bedeutungsvoller Titel, da sich die lebendige Musik von Q3 durch Zeichen weiterbegibt, und gleichzeitig humorvoll – das Wortspiel nimmt den Namen des Trios wieder auf – folgt einer sorgfältigen Architektur, in der sich Jazz Eigenschaften wie Improvisation und die gebrauchten Kompositionstechniken mit akustisch wiedergegebenen Drum'n'bass Rhythmen und Tönen abwechseln, und die sich ab und zu am klassischen Kontrapunkt, Second-line und Groove orientiert. Das Gesamte verspricht also eine noch nie dagewesene Hörerfahrung. Und einen frohen Tag.
